A Must for Long Distance Runners October 3, 2007
I'm training for the New York Marathon, and this stuff has made all the difference in my training. I have a finicky stomach during runs, but this stuff tastes great (I like vanilla bean) and goes down smoothly. For my long runs I normally ingest one every 6 or 7 miles, and it gives me the boost I need. Be sure to hydrate as well! I recommend Gu because it tastes yummy and has the right blend of sugar and electrolytes. I sampled the PowerBar brand gel, and it was gross. Too liquidy and sour-tasting. I recommend this over the other stuff on the market!

I've been training for a race for about four months and just started using Gu. It makes a big difference in my energy level...especially for those morning runs. The texture is weird...but it's worth being grossed out!
