1 out of 5 stars Useless   October 25, 2008
It works as described and as the instructions direct, but it does not relieve my sinus pressure.

5 out of 5 stars simply effective   October 8, 2008

My allergist recommended the neti pot or waterpik options. The waterpik option worked great, but logistics made it a rare thing for me to use. Then this summer I traveled from my home in Florida to Anchorage, Alaska for a few weeks. Having spent way too much time on a plane I wound up with the worst sinus infection of my life, no participating providers for my health insurance in the entire state. Of course I had left my waterpik at home too! After much searching I finally found the neilmed 8oz at a grocery store (sorry amazon couldn't wait, and no drugstores in AK!). A day after I used the neilmed I was much better. I'll be using it 2x a day for a week before any more flights and it will travel with me for certain.

The waterpik method I think is slightly more effective (pulsation) but the logistics are so much more complicated, I'll never use it again. Also helps greatly with post-nasal drip.

The one suggestion I didn't see having gone through all 5 pages of reviews is make sure to remove from nose before allowing to refill the air. Seems common sense, but...

5 out of 5 stars Works great!   October 7, 2008
The product works great. Was delivered on time. It takes a little getting used to. My only problems has been fitting it into my schedule. It only takes a few minutes, but you can't do it before you leave in the morning or before you go to bed. However, when I do use it, it is easy and fast and my nasal passages don't dry out and I feel better.

5 out of 5 stars Helps reduce pain and length from clogged sinuses   October 6, 2008

My husband and I recently had the same cold virus. While he could take medications to help, I couldn't because I was pregnant. I used this instead and my cold was significantly shorter than his. My immune system usually takes longer to recover so I felt that this sped up my recovery. I have used this for years and when your sinuses are full and congested there is no hankerchief to clean you out and make you feel empty like this. It doesn't help with inflamation once you have it but it does prevent me from having more and lets me fall a sleep with an ability to breath through my nose.

4 out of 5 stars Not a magic cure, but very helpful   September 10, 2008

It is hard to tell, from reviews, what to expect of this product.

I've had sinus problems forever. What finally led me to the purchase of NeilMed's Sinus Rinse was a few consecutive days of aching in my sinuses (all of them!) so bad I could no longer concentrate on work. Yes, suphedrine and pain killers help... but that can't be a good long-term solution.

I'd avoided trying nasal rinsing for years, though I'd heard it was very helpful because it just seemed... nasty. Yet the pain drove me to try it.

Now, what is it like? Well... it's like having a whole lot of warm water shot up your nose! It doesn't sting, or hurt, exactly, but it's definitely not a pleasant sensation. However, after each sinus rinse, whatever was bothering me stopped. If I had pain, the pain went away. If I was itching with allergies, that stopped. If my nose was running a lot, that cleared up.

Not to say I felt fabulous afterwards. Usually my sinuses felt weird, and my ears got kind of squeaky. But, it was always an improvement! And, after several days, the process stopped leaving me feeling quite as strange (I don't know if my sinuses changed, or if I just got accustomed to it) and overall my sinuses stopped giving me much trouble.

So, in conclusion, it's not fun, and it's not pleasant, and it's not an instant miracle fix, but it DOES significantly help with many sinus/nasal problems, without drugs or any real down sides. Can't hurt to give it a try!
