I am amazed how well this little otoscope works. Actually I never expected it to work as well as it does considering it's price. I can see the eardrum as clear if not clearer with this otoscope as the one I paid over $300 for that I use in my clinic. I bought the otoscope mainly so I could have an inexpensive one to carry in my coat pocket when I make hospital rounds. I have been so impressed with the functionality I now find myself using it at my clinic as well since it is more light weight and convenient than my larger metal professional model. The only draw back I have found is that the disposable specula are a little more difficult to place on the otoscope than they are with my professional model.

The item is beautifully simple and a great product in theory. But it illuminates just about a few millimeters too short to be of use. I tried it on DH and he tried it out on me, but we got similar results. You could see the inner ear canal clear as day and get more clarity on earwax than you would ever hope. But the eardrum itself looks like a slightly illuminate white thing just barely out of reach of the otoscope, no matter how far you stick it in (and quite honestly -- it's not comfortable nor recommended if you push it that far). I thought maybe it was because it was that our adult sized ear canals were just a bit too long and tried it out on my sleeping 2 year old. I had the same problem, but compounded by much more earwax in her ears.
I really had high hopes for this product. :o(

My son was born with abnormally small nostrils. Because of this, we are unable to use a bulb syringe to clear his nasal passages. We have to use a pick (provided by the doctor) to remove secretions from his nose. The Dr Mom Otoscope provides enough light that I can tell whether I need to clean his nose or not, and enables me to see what I am doing without damaging his nasal tissue. Thanks! The only draw back--- batteries do not last long with frequent use.

It really works, I can see into my son's ears pretty clearly. After a doctor helped me understand what i'm looking at in there, I can now determine if my son has an ear infection without making unnessary trips to the doctor. Good price and I highly recommend it.
