The worst night guard on the market October 2, 2008 0 out of 1 found this comment useful.
The Sleepright night guard is the worst possible solution you could use for teeth grinding/aka Bruxism. According too many Dental professionals it is a short term solution to a long term problem with serious side affects at best. I have been chewing through my SleepRight so many times it is ridiculous. The company is aware of the problem as well as the serious side affects that can occur to the bite and yet does zero about it. It seems their only concern is the all mighty dollar. Their customer service leaves much to be desired for as well. Getting someone to return your phone call after many complaints is a challenge, and usually they blame their after hours call center on not forwarding messages. My Orthodontist said that I should immediately stop using this product after I brought it into him for an evaluation, and that "Splints" like the one I brought him often cause more harm then good. I would never recommend this product to anyone who suffers from teeth grinding. All this product is designed to do is empty your wallet and successfully fail at helping to alleviate your condition.
Works well so far! July 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this comment useful.
I ordered this after my dentist told me I SEVERELY grind my teeth. I've only had one night where it came out of my mouth so far. It fits comfortably and it's not bulky in the mouth, it's easy to fall asleep with it in and it's not too distracting. Easy to size to your mouth. Like some people said, when I wake up after using it, my bite does feel a little 'off' but I think that this is due to the jaw muscles feeling differently - they're not incredibly tensed like when I would wake up before, so I think that's why my mouth feels a little different. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product! My husband is grateful for no more grinding!
Good but not a perfect solution March 29, 2008 1 out of 2 found this comment useful.
If you have bruxism or TMJ then this will give you relief similar to wearing an athletic mouthguard while sleeping. It is lighter and works by keeping the sides of your teeth ajar a tiny bit to keep your teeth from coming in contact. This sounds good but if your bite is too deep then you may prefer wearing a regular mouthguard since it is thicker and will keep your teeth further apart. If you grind your teeth, this won't stop you and you'll soon grind your way thru one or both sides of the guard.
Overall, there are aspects I like, it's smaller and easier on my teeth. With a regular athletic mouthguard my teeth slowly drift a bit and over time it doesn't fit correctly and I need to re-boil it or buy a new one. This doesn't do that. But since I also grind my teeth, I wore thru this in a shorter time than a regular guard, about four months for one side. It didn't keep my bite open enough either so I had to learn to keep my jaws relaxed as the directions indicated. This did help so I am giving it a higher rating than I otherwise would, but if you grind your teeth you may want to find another treatment.
This is Okay March 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this comment useful.
When I first tried this I did not like it. However, after trying other products, by Dentek, The Doctor's brand and sport guards, I returned to the sleep right select. The difference with this is that it works to correct the bad habit of teeth grinding and jaw clenching. You have to unlearn this behavior and in the meantime this protects your teeth. It's important to practice the lips together teeth apart so you catch yourself grinding (usually in traffic for me). It does seem very expensive for a piece of plastic, but when compared to the $700 dentists charge for custom guards, this is not so bad. Even if you have to buy more than one a year it still works out cheaper.

I grind and clench my teeth a great deal. I have been wearing a night guard from the dentist for 20 some years but still had trouble since the night guard from the dentist did not help my clenching of the teeth. This is my second one. The first one I wore every night and wore it out within a year. The second one I purchased I wear every couple nights and it is holding up well. You don't need it every night. My jaw has not been sore like it was with the night guard from the dentist. I should not crack any more of my teeth while using this night guard.
