Product Description As a Registered Dental Hygienist, this is the same model night guard I wear and recommend to my patients! Excessive grinding and clenching of the teeth can be extremely damaging. Premature failure of dental restorations, breakage of teeth and gum line recession are common problems associated with the grinding/clenching habit known as bruxism. In our dental practice we make custom fitted guards that sell for hundreds of dollars but we offer these as an alternative when cost is a concern. After trying dozens of OTC (over the counter) mouth guard models these have proven to be the best fitting most comfortable day/night brux/clench/grind guard. These will double as a sports mouth guard but are intended to be used as a protective device for people who grind and clench their teeth and are wanting a better more comfortable fit than a sports mouth guard can offer.

Good over all, a little thick August 31, 2008 I've tried using the guards that you can get at sports stores, but those were too big and I ended up spitting it out. I've also had the professionally done ones, but I chew through those in 3 months. This one was a little thick at first so I spit it out the first night. What had to be done was to reheat it and smear it over my teeth. After it cools, I cut off the extra bit. Its held up pretty well so far.
Fantastic fit! July 18, 2008 I can't bias the rating because I'm stupid. At night when I'm sleeping, I take this out of my mouth and start grinding away again. But I must say.. for those of you who wont take it out while you're sleeping, it is a great fit. My boyfriend trimmed it up a bit for me and it fits great!
Doesn't fit! June 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this comment useful.
I have bought it based on all the positive recommendations but it didn't work for me and I returned it.
Just like one of the previous reviewers said, I followed the instructions, and the smaller guard was too thick for me. I reheated it, which probably made it even worse. My mouth is small and I don't need a 5mm barrier between my teeth, and in front of my teeth. I don't grind only clench and tend to wake up with swollen gums, so as much as I need some barrier, this was too huge and too uncomfortable. As a matter of fact, it made things worse. When I was laying I felt that the guard would get loose on a side and press on my upper and bottom teeth having a worse effect than clenching. Another issue was that it's too thick that you can't even close your mouth properly. I know that it's possible to cut/sand some pieces off, but that's very difficult to do and requires special tools.
I tried it for a few weeks, and decided to return it.
Contrary to what the producer recommends, I don't think you should use a night guard for sports.
Considering that it works for some, you can always buy it and return it if it doesn't work for you.
Not sure June 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this comment useful.
Being instruction-challenged, I'm just now following the instructions to ready the personal-fit mouth guard (by the way, the instructions were easy and worked). I slept with this mouth guard, for the first time, last night. It's a snug fit, and this morning, a couple of my front teeth felt sore. Though I'm not thrilled with the product, it's still better than the dental device my dentist sold me, for $250.00 (which I flung out of my mouth, during one night, and now can't find). I also plan to check out the one I keep seeing, advertised at Walgreen's, that is a no-boil. I think if I'd pressed more towards the back teeth, instead of the front, with this one, it would be fitting better. Some of my dissatisfaction may be my own doing.
Works as it should April 27, 2008 I've only been using this for about 2 weeks but I am very satisfied with it so far. Two sizes are great - I use the smaller one and it fits perfectly. Very easy directions, took less than ten minutes from opening to getting a molded guard. The instructions are short but to the point. Be sure to follow the helpful hint about wearing it around before going to sleep. It takes some getting used to and the first few nights you may spit it out. Can't beat the price!
