Don't even bother with the other ones. August 25, 2006 3 out of 3 found this comment useful.
This is a great product. The dual sensor idea is excellent (works upside down). The belt clip is not very good but I quickly learned that it is much more convenient to remove belt clip and just lasso it through belt loop and dangle in pocket upside down. It is then easy to take a peek at it occasionally. I was going to ding one star for the belt clip but I don't need it and I want to compensate for the debits in other reviews for the great auto reset feature and the claim that it is inacurrate for running. If you are going to use it for running you need to calibrate for your running stride and dedicate it to running. In short, Omron just "get's it"
User Friendly August 25, 2006 3 out of 3 found this comment useful.
Set up was quick, controls are easy/intuitive. What I especially like about it is that you don't have to clip it on your waistband if that's too geeky for you...you can also drop it into a pocket or purse and it will still count your steps accurately. (The watch pocket in a pair of jeans fits it perfectly and holds it upright!)
It's a great tool to make you more aware of your activity (or lack of). After receiving and using my pedometer from Amazon, I proceeded to order two more for friends and family who are also interested in getting more active.
It would be nice if the next generation of this would include a backlight, and perhaps an additional neck lanyard for the times you just don't have a waistband, pockets or a purse (it happens)...otherwise, it's nearly perfect.
A great motivator. August 24, 2006 4 out of 4 found this comment useful.
I wear this little device everyday. It is very convenient and fits like a small beeper by clipping on to your jeans, pocket, etc.. I had my husband program the device,; he did so in 5mins. Well worth the money and accurate too! At the end of the day even if I have not had time to workout , I'll jog, go up and down the steps, or even walk around the block to achieve the recommended 12,000 steps a day to loose weight. It keeps a log for 7 days and measures steps, aerobic steps, distance, and calories burned...!
Good for walkers August 21, 2006 Great gadget for walkers who wants to motivate themselves to take those extra steps. Downside is when you wear it running, it doesn't track the distance and calories accurately. Nonetheless, it is a fun and motivational gadget.
Best Pedometer EVER August 21, 2006 3 out of 3 found this comment useful.
I have owned many pedometers in my life. This one is great for these reasons (in no particular order):
1. It has a "leash" that keeps it from falling from your waist line (pants, skirt, etc). So it's hard to lose.
2. It seems like very solid construction. The few times that I have dropped it on the floor it has never reset itself and lost it's data.
3. The read-out (screen) is large enough to see.
4. It stores a week's worth of data so you can track your progress easily.
5. The price is very reasonable.
I have purchased one for myself and after falling in love with it, I purchased one for my mother, my aunt, my sister, and my daughter.
I first read about it in the Younger Next Year for Women book, and I love it.
