Simple inexpensive, easy to use August 23, 2008 Incredibly easy to use gadget. I've never had an HRM before, but decided to take the plunge due to the sale price. I simply took it out of the box, dabbed a bit of water on the sensor band, and put it on. That's it. I started getting my heart rate 30 seconds later. Went to the gym the next day, exercised, and was pleasantly surprised. The chest band didn't irritate me during cardio or weight workouts, and most of the cardio equipment at the gym displayed the heart rate, just like the watch. No problems on any of my subsequent gym visits this week. Now, I think I may actually have a clue what I'm doing at the gym.
Easy to set, easy to use, It's made me aerobic-aholic!! August 23, 2008 5 out of 5 found this comment useful.
I studied every heart rate monitor on Amazon. I wrote questions to Timex tech support and got answers. In the past I've spent over $4000 total for workout equipment. How hilarious to discover that the best piece of workout equipment in the world is a heart rate monitor and this one meets my needs (target zone alarms, easy to set, easy to use) for a mere $34.
Now when I think about the reviews about this one not being durable enough, I'm like "SOOOOO?" I can buy 117 replacements for what I spent on things that weren't nearly as useful to getting healthy quicker and easier.
No time to work out? No excuse with a heart rate monitor. Check me out, in the last two days I've done ALL of the following in my target zone. I've learned that wearing a heart monitor means the gym is everywhere. In the last two days I've done the following things aerobically :
* checked my snail mail mailbox * shopped in Lane Bryant (and numerous other stores, but it's especially sweet to shop in a big girl's store aerobically) * washed dishes * carried out the trash * done laundry * rode my bike * wii fit strength exercises (aerobic and strength training combined, sweeeet ) * taken the dogs out to potty (used to sit down for that, what was I thinking!)
and I'm definitely looking forward to going back to the long branch saloon the next time my daughter is in. I'm not much of a drinker, I'm not that good at dancing... I mostly went to enjoy my daughter and her fun, crazy friends.... but this changes everything. Not only will I dance, but when I see my heart rate dropping below my target zone, I'll be asking the men to dance. Who am I kidding. I won't ask, I'll insist! lol
Now here's the best part, in the zone, I'm burning 85% fat. In the low end, it's such a smooth and comfortable brisk walk, it's almost like gliding. I can (so far) only stay on the high end for any length of time while on the bicycle, but there it's exhilarating. I'm still burning 85% fat, only I'm burning more calories per minute.
The alarm is very quiet. My target zone is 99 to 145. But today I reset the bottom number to 110, because now when I hear the alarm, I can pick up the pace before I've ever dropped out of the zone. No stress. :))
I may have to keep wrinkling, but as long as I can keep moving, I don't have feel old. And that's really all that matters, how we feel. Me, I feel like I'm in love. :)
You'll think you won't wear the chest strap and watch all day long, because geez, the watch is homely. But I went to buy gas for the car and as I was walking in I noticed I was walking almost slowly. I speeded up, but still... I'm wearing the strap all day long since then.
On cloud nine!
Lollie
Omron HR-100C Heart Rate Monitor August 12, 2008 Doesn't work for me. It isn't an easy product to understand. I don't get much out of the instructions. The heart rate part won't start up for me.
Omron Heart Monitor August 12, 2008 First one of these I've owned and it is a little more than I expected as far as use goes. It does appear to be pretty well made and works very well. I'm please with my purchase and the Amazon experience.
Great HR Monitor - Recommended August 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this comment useful.
This is a great and inexpensive HR monitor for those who do not need all the bells and whistles of the more expensive ones. Works perfectly and is more accurate then the HR monitor on my $1800 eliptical trainer!
