5 out of 5 stars Know Your Heart Rate   March 13, 2007

The heart rate monitor is a very useful device when trying to keep yuour heart rate in a range that is best for you. Read instruction carefully before using, you need to input some info first. Otherwise extremely easy to use. Before I was never sure if I was having an effective workout, now I know if my heart rate is too high or low. With the alarm option you don't need to constantly look at your wrist. It will beep if the heart rate is too high or too low. I find the stop watch option useful as well. I have a aerobic equipment that doesn't have a working electronics pad, which makes the stop watch very useful.

3 out of 5 stars waist strap gets gross if you sweat a lot...   March 11, 2007

I had a hard time choosing heart rate monitors. I was training for my first half marathon and I was told by my runner friends that a heart rate monitor was a good investment. This was the cheapest HRM that had the features i was looking for. I didn't realize it came with the chest/waist strap though, but it ended up not bothering me after my 3rd or 4th run with it, I just had to get used to it. It is is a good heart rate monitor, for a competitive price. I'd buy it again if I had it to do over.

I am very impressed with the performance of this unit. It is responsive and accurate. I also noted that while at the gym, the sensing unit worked with the equipment HR reader. It is comfortable and easy to read. Very worthwhile purchase.

3 out of 5 stars for anyone with a pacemaker   March 8, 2007

This heart rate monitor worked fine for me, but we bought it to monitor my husband who is pacemaker dependent. He has recently had the pacemaker re-set to allow the rate to increase with exercise and we were curious to monitor him throughtout the day. Unfortunately, it would not register his heart rate at all. (NO, he is not obese or furry!) So, undoubtedly it would be fine for most people, but was useless for us.

4 out of 5 stars not for tiny women   March 8, 2007

I just got this and haven't done much with it, just wanted to mention a few things.
1) The size. The chest belt is held on with elastic and is adjustable from 29 - 55 inches, per the manual. I'm petite and it just fits. I imagine if the elastic stretches with use, I'm going to have to do some sewing, but at least its something do-able. Along the same lines, the watch band is just tight enough to not slide on my wrist. It's plastic and looks like you could punch another hole if needed. Just be aware that if you are tiny, you might want to look into something sized more for women.
2) I saw a question below about it being water-proof. I was surprised to read in the manual that it is water resistant and "can be worn swimming or diving up to approximately 30 meters (98 feet)." There are notes about not adjusting it once you've exposed it to excessive water but you can use it.
