5 out of 5 stars Omfon HJ-112 digital pedometer   December 14, 2008

I love this pedometer! The extra strap that holds it on has saved me from losing it several times and I get very excited when I see that I have walked arobic steps. The best part is one day I forgot to take it off and it ended up in the washing machine, I was sure I had broken it. It took a full day to dry I reset it and it is good as new, although I would not test it again I now make sure I know where it is before doing laundry. I strongly recommend this product.

2 out of 5 stars It doen't work with loose clothes   December 12, 2008

I wear loose-fitting, casual clothes. I cannot find a place to clip this pedometer that will record my foot steps accurately. Often during the day the meter resets itself to zero.

I haven't contacted the manufacturer; I don't know what they can advise.

5 out of 5 stars Great product - very satisfied   December 12, 2008

I started looking for a pedometer after my wife and other friends bought peds and started tracking their steps. I did a lot of research and this Omron kept coming up at the top of the lists. After receiving my pedometer I can see why. The setup was very straightforward and using it is also very easy. The readout is large and the buttons are easy to use to review the variouis functions (steps, miles, calories, history, aerobic steps, etc.). You can clip it on your belt or take it out of the holder and slip it into your pocket. And the best part is that the price was about half the price my wife paid for hers. If you are looking for a pedometer this is the one to buy. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Small, light weight, and counts EVERY step! Stop that sedentary lifestyle!   December 12, 2008

I bought this to see how poorly I was achieving the "10,000 steps in a day" goal. Quickly I realized that this pedometer was doing an exceptional job at recording everything - so I couldn't come up with an excuse, or fool myself into thinking that going to the refrigerator was 250 steps.

Pros:
--Small and light in weight
--Clip holds very well
--Can put in pocket (any direction) and still functions properly
--Durable (accidently dropped it down two flights of a stairwell, only to find that it had recorded some steps from the fall, and still worked fine)
--Can count: Calories lost, Number of miles walked, and keeps time

Cons:
--Wish the memory was longer than 7 days

This pedometer IS NOT like those cheap pedometers that you know are missing steps, so you trick yourself into believing you're walking a lot more than it says. If you're looking for something that will tell you the truth, get this pedometer. I've been very happy, and it's helped me to recognize and improve my sedentary lifestyle.

5 out of 5 stars Accurate and easy to use   December 8, 2008
I bought the Omron HJ-112 pedometer with a nice discount at Amazon, and am very happy with it. I checked and re-checked, and its measurements seem to be quite accurate and trustworthy, even when it's in my bag -- as long as it is upright -- and not on my waist. Setting it up is easy and intuitive. Although the battery compartment is sealed by a screw, the pedometer comes with a basic little screwdriver (and the CR2032 battery) to easily open and shut it.

I got a little Case Logic UNZ-2 neoprene pocket (Caselogic UNZ-2 Small Universal Pocket w/Screen Protection (Black/Silver)to store it in, and the fit is perfect.

My one complaint is due to no fault of Omron's, but by my own lack of research: I wish this pedometer had the option of defaulting to the metric system (where I live we are metric). It doesn't, and I can live with that.
