Good but faulty January 7, 2009 We purchased this filter and when we received it the clips to keep the door shut were broken. We sent it back with delays due to UPS but Amazon was great to deal with. We were sent a second filter which actually is faulty, the wires must be mixed for the slow and medium speed. Rather than send it back and deal with the hassle and more delay (a month from when we first ordered), we decided to keep it. So, buyer beware, 3M seems to be making a somewhat faulty machine. I think they need to improve their quality control. I am not sure if the clips to keep the door shut were broken in transit, but the box was not dented and the foam was intact. I never did plug in the first unit to see if it also had the slow and medium reversed.
Also, if you are buying it to eliminate dust then think again. If you don't have pets you will most likely be fine, but we have two dogs, a cat, and a bird. The amount of dust seems to be the same, although the amount of dust floating in the air has been reduced. If you have animals and you think this will eliminate dusting, well, then you might want to reconsider buying it. If i had to do over i would consider a cheaper model.
Air purifier January 5, 2009 This is one of the best deals I have purchased it a long time. It works so well and I can really tell the difference. I have both cats & dogs and it is amazing...don't know how I have lived so long without it!
Air filter November 16, 2008 I love the size of this unit and how exceptionally quiet it is. Sleek styling also!
Power...Quiet....Clean July 18, 2008 I live in an apartment with 2 dogs and 1 cat. Placed the product in the largest space between the living room and dining room...about 240 square ft. Works great...cleans the air so well that I no longer have itchy eyes like I had previously. Also, there is much less pet odor than before. Very impressed.
Actually works! But no carbon filtration for organics. June 9, 2008 2 out of 3 found this comment useful.
After trying several HEPA filters over many years, this one actually works. It's quiet and uses a mini version of 3M's filtrete furnace filters, so the replacements aren't quite so expensive. My son has stopped sniffling and sneezing so much at night. One thing it is missing is a carbon pre-filter, so don't expect any organics to get filtered out. This is pretty important, since it's the organics from your paint, carpet, cooking, etc. that will get you in the long run. The particulate matter will give you allergies and asthma-like symptoms, but the organics will give you cancer. Just check out the EPA's indoor air quality web site for more info. Still, getting rid of the PM is important, so five stars to an excellent PM filtration unit!
