Kid like it, but nutrition needs work December 22, 2008 My kids really like this one, but it isn't whole grain and doesn't have as high a level of vitamins and minerals as Annie's, and there's a lot of salt, which is probably why they like it so much.
Best Organic mac 'n' cheese October 30, 2008 The kids love this one! We have tried several organic versions and this is by far the best. A little more difficult to mix and I add more organic milk but it tastes great and they eat it. I have bought this one everytime.
Pretty darned good August 21, 2008 Pros: Tastes pretty much like original Kraft mac and cheese No artificial colors (linked to hyperactivity) No modified food starch
Cons: The cheese doesn't mix as well as the original. I recommend melting the butter, adding the milk, then the cheese and mixing then adding it to the cooked noodles.
We liked the organic shells version slightly better.
5 Star Organic value for a classic side dish August 18, 2008 The move to going organic needs to be a smooth transition, especially when you are cooking for more than one person. Breaking the barrier of "ewe organic, I don't know..." can be easier if you don't go wild on the switch to organic. That being said, this Kraft Organic Macaroni & Cheese is a good start. Tastes just like the real thing. If you don't believe me, just slap down a buck at you local grocery store and just give it a shot. You wont find it on sale with a coupon (yet) but it will help you and your family start making moves toward replacing some of your food with Organic.
What I shoot for is less of the extra food additives with the bonus of organic farming of wheat and milk. It still comes in a cardboard box and a semi-foil cheese bag of flavor, but hey you got to start somewhere. Just recycle the box and enjoy one of your favorite side dishes. Once you try the first box, you'll know that you will have no problems finishing off the case sold here.
Oh, just an FYI. I found out on my own (by opening the box and comparing the semi-foil cheese bags of flavor) that the Organic Back to Nature Mac&Cheese has the exact same bag of cheese. Right down to the same serial number. I would bet the pasta is the same too.
Tastes bitter June 26, 2008 Mac n Cheese makes a great late night meal, and it's great comfort food. I picked up a couple boxes of the new Organic version, assuming it would taste the same. The first box tasted so bitter that I had to toss it all. I thought maybe I had a bad box, so I gave it another try, but it still tastes disgusting. Has anyone else noticed this?
