Psychiatry of the Male Genger April 28, 2008
This textbook is quite comprehensive and covers many male-specific mental health issues and barriers to treatment. The author astutely covers a wide spectrum of issues unique to men from mood to anxiety disorders.
The socialization of males could well be an impediment to seeking treatment, primarily the belief that males need to demonstrate strength and deny depression and other issues.
I recommend this textbook for anybody, MHP or clergy, who works with men professionally and is cognizant of these psychosocial issues.
