Very informative book based on broad, long-term scientific studies about diet and health. Eye-opening results fly in the face of conventional, money-driven ideas about what a healthy diet includes. Diseases of civilization (heart disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity, etc.) are shown to result from dietary choices, and can be reversed by improving diet. Guidelines for health steer towards vegetarianism, with clear foundation from the numerous studies cited earlier. Problems with "scientific" method because of money and peer pressure, giving out false conclusions and distorted facts to public, related.
This book helped me firm up my desire to eat more plant foods (fruits, vegetables, etc.) in their most unrefined (raw) state. Not only can I avoid disease and improve my own health, but I am passing on this information (book) to my own adult children so that they can make more informed nutritional choices for themselves and their children.
A must read! October 12, 2008 1 out of 5 found this comment useful.
This is the best nutrition book I have ever read, and I have read many.

The impact of this book literally changed my life, my family's life and hopefully many others I am able to pass this information along to. As a health care provider, an avid reader and someone who used to think I was making great choices, I now have a much deeper understanding of nutritional value and the true impact diet has on our entire well being. The author has compiled and heavily contributed to one of the most comprehensive all-encompassing, indisputable realm of facts on the "foods" we eat that I have seen to date. Don't think you've already heard it! This is NOT a "diet" book! This is a book of truths and if you have any interest what so ever in living healthy, long and happy and seeing those around you experience the same, then read this book! I started making changes in my eating habits at the first chapter and just a few weeks later, I can't tell you how much better I feel, mentally and physically. Let the China Study show you the repeated scientific evidence of HOW, WHAT and WHY the foods you eat do what they do to/for the human body, then make your own choices! Don't let genetics and/or commonality of diease process, i.e., heart disease, diabetes, cancers, etc. lead you to believe this is simply your hand in life! You truly need to have this knowledge to understand that you can have control over your health and happiness. Blessings in Great Health!
A Must Read September 28, 2008 2 out of 5 found this comment useful.
This is one of the most powerful books on modern diet and disease ever written. It should be a must read for all health careers students. Clear, concise. A real hard look at traditional mantras on human protein consumption.
