Very useful information written to be very readable. It almost was a stay-up-reading-until-2am book. BUY IT! READ IT! GIVE IT AS GIFTS!

1 out of 5 stars He had a point to prove   October 13, 2005

I was very disappointed in this book. There are quite a few chapters before he even gets to China where it becomes clear that he is anti protein. He did 10 years of studies on how one protein, casein, affects the growth of one kind of tumor, liver cancer from aflatoxin and uses that to make all kinds of judgements about what people should or should not eat.

As the Weston A. Price Foundation points out, some forms of casein, because of how they are dried, are carcinogenic. They also pointed out a fact that Campbell ignored, that those who ate the most saturated fat were protected from cancers and diseases of degeneration.

It's a good read if you want to justify being a vegan, but if you really want answers, it's a waste of money.

5 out of 5 stars A "Must read" if you want to live disease free   October 8, 2005

This book deserves more than 5 stars. The only thing I can say this book needs improving is a little more detail on what exactly to eat and what not, and I wish this book would also be available in German as well as many other languages, because everybody in the whole world should benefit from it!

Finally, the definitive book on the best nutrition for our bodies! The author, T. Colin Campbell, has impeccable credentials and I trust what he has to say. He writes clearly and concisely so that I can understand complicated scientific research and what the scientific studies mean for me. Until I read this book, I was very confused about what foods my body needed for optimal health. He explains in layman terms how we utilize the foods we consume, why certain food groups are excellent fuel, and why others should be avoided. This is basic nutrition and if you think about it and add up what you already know and probably suspected, you will know the author is right. I was so excited to read this book, that I want everybody I know to read it a.s.a.p. which is why I am buying more copies to give to my friends and family. I can't recommend it highly enough.
