4 out of 5 stars Ok but not 5 stars   December 31, 2008
First I wanted to start off by saying this book has a great concept. Some reviews have said that this book has a lot of misinformation and I would say only some. Activated charcoal is an absorbant and the CPR questions I read were correct and updated to the 2005 standards. There were a few answers that I noticed were off, but every EMT review book that I have looked at (kaplan, Brady, Mosby's, and a few others) all had errors in them.
Pros:
1. Cheap compared to others
2. Good format (I like being able to read the question and immediately find out the answer)
3. The questions in this book seemed to be the hardest I've been able to find. I am worried that all the practice tests I am taking are too easy and aren't going to be whats on the national registry. Now I'm worried that I don't know enough becuase these questions seem harder.

Cons:
1. Few wrong answers
2. Repeated questions with answers scrambled towards the end
3. Useless "bonus fast-facts" Example: "EMTs and paramedics use special equipment, such as backboards, to immobilize patients before placing them on stretchers and seuring them in the ambulance" If you are buying this book, you know what an EMT does, and facts like this are useless. Also, many facts are cited from wikipedia.

2 out of 5 stars Not clear   October 21, 2008
I purchased this item thinking it would be actual flash cards and it is not. They are pages with questions. No tear outs. The info is good but not what I was looking for or what I thought I was buying.

The questions are a little bit easier then those found on NR, but they are the same kind of questions. This product is very good for practice and repitition right before taking the test.

1 out of 1 found this comment useful.

I encourage my EMT-B students to purchase this book at the beginning of each course. I have found it to be extremely helpful in studying for their lessons and constant review. Many of my students have come back to me when the course was over and they had tested nationally to tell me they felt this book was a tremendous help to them.

5 out of 5 stars Really helpful book   June 15, 2008
Idea to get so many questions in one book and add glossary and answers is brilliant. I'm taking exam on June 23rd, this book helped me to be ready.
