Review: The NCCPA's recommended review guide. December 12, 2008 Overall, this review text has been worth the purchase. It provides a quick review on a majority of topics. However, in my opinion, it lacks in one catergory: 1) when discussing treatment for a particular diagnosis this book does not give specific examples, so I am having to spend precious time reviewing other study materials for specific meds. This book is supposed to be a COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW!!!
Must have for PANCE November 2, 2008 I used this book along with Van Rhee. Very too the point. I would have preferred that it came with some pictures or an atlas like Van Rhee. But for the money it is a must have. The CD was just OK.
A comprehensive review.... September 30, 2008 This is a great book. It has helped me on my end of rotation exams for my clinical rotations. I only wish the questions were separated into sections.

I started my review 3 months ahead of time, read the entire book and took the pretest and scored 71%. Somewhat concerned, I bought the two Appleton and Lang study guides and specifically focused on areas of the pretest I was weakest in. I passed the PANRE with a score of 637/700. If you are in a subspecialty and want a comprehensive review, get all three books. That's around $200. The one thing about this study guide that is useful is the pretest. It will tell you where you need to focus your attention and study time.

This is all I used to study for the PANCE and it was worth every penny. I read several reviews that were not recommending this book but I strongly disagree. I paid a lot of money and attended a course in Chicago and I actually got more from reading this book. To be honest I read the book before I attended the review and learned nothing new at the review. Save your money on the course and buy this book.
