5 out of 5 stars Great Textbook!   November 9, 2008
This is most definitely a wonderful textbook for nursing students. It is easy to read, breaks up the reading material so it does not seem so monotonous, and it has and extensive amount of tables, graphs, diagrams, and examples that make the reading information much easier to understand. I would recommend this book to nursing students and instructors alike!

4 out of 5 stars Helps with studies   October 17, 2008
This book definitely helps study for exams and gives good ways to learn new views on the topics!! The only thing I do no like is that it does not provide answers to the questions so you can check your answer.

4 out of 5 stars Necessary textbook   October 5, 2008
Not only is this book required for my courses but even if it weren't I would have to have it. It is absolutely essential for me in Nursing school. I already owned the previous edition and still bought this one because I was that impressed. This version is smaller, more focused and direct. Content is easy to understand and very helpful.

2 out of 5 stars think twice   September 28, 2008

there's so many things wrong with this new edition. (answers are different if you compare this ed to the 6th, some text missing, and no rationale in the back to explain the answers!) the 6th ed is better with rationales in the back along with answers. even my professor contacted the publisher and informed them of the problems with this edition and was told that they're going to provide us with a CD of the textbook. what a waste of my money on this textbook if it's not even usable!!! i have the 6th edition and it's much better!

LIFE AND DEATH
"Nursing Fundamentals" can be a matter of life and death. So its scary that every time I pick up the book I find errors.

PEER CONSENSUS
There is a consensus between all my classmates that information from this book cannot be trusted. The "NCLEX-Style Review Question Answer Key" (page 1440) is so inaccurate that our instructors had to correct it and give us the corrected version as a handout.

QUICK EXAMPLES

* Page 49 Table 4-1
Benner and Wrubel are "Brenner and Wrubel" here.

* Page 743 Table 35-10
In the first footnote in this box. "* Regular insulin is the only insulin for intravenous use...action is between 30 and 30 minutes." Really, "between 30 and 30"; this makes me question the other information I spend all day studying.
