 Pioneering Work in the Field of Mercury Amalgam Toxicity December 31, 2008
In 1840 it was against dentistry law and ethics to place "quaksilber" (mercury) fillings in people's mouths. Dentists who did so were known as quaks. Due to the low cost of mercury fillings, they were popular with the public, versus the more expensive and safer gold fillings. In 1899, after the demise of the National Association of Dental Surgeons, a new dental organization began, the American Dental Association, which was started by "quak" dentists. Since then, the ADA has promoted mercury fillings.
Make no mistake about it, "silver" amalgams are 50% highly toxic mercury, 15% silver, 15% copper and composed of other metals. Dr. Huggins explains that the new high copper fillings have been shown to release up to 30x more vapor than the older mercury fillings of 20 years ago.
Dr. Huggins describes how the ADA never conducted any dental research on the mercury fillings, or on their chilling effects. Due to the bodies defense mechanisms, not everyone who has mercury fillings, has health problems. But it isn't the other way around explains Huggins. From Alzheimer's, to Leukemia, he has put into remission these diseases, or halted them, by the careful removal of mercury fillings and a cleaning up or root canals.
Of particular interest is that if you decide to remove your amalgams (I am keeping mine, I am in good health) the removal is much more successful if they are done in a certain order based upon a measuring of electrical charges.
Dr. Huggins book also talks about nutrition, although I believe he wrongly points the finger at seafoods for being dangerous due to mercury levels. Mercury in seafood from natural ocean vents is not the same mercury that is in our mouths. Thanks to the pioneering work of Dr. Huggins and others, there will very soon be a day where amalgam fillings are banned. If you have a chronic health problem, from cancer, to multiple sclerosis, considering the link of the disease to root canals or mercury amalgams may save your life. Dr. Huggins explains many case studies when he himself cried due to the sadness he felt seeing people who had such severe pain and suffering, such as having regular seizure. Much of which were due to their inability to handle mercury. Huggins explains how the ADA used to describe that 5% of the population will not react well to Mercury. Considering the estimated 1 million filings placed per day, 5% is a significant number of people.
A tireless worker to inform the world about the danger of amaglams. And fed up with trying to get the industry to change. "It's All In Your Head," brings Dr. Huggins case to the public. The book is well written and engaging to read.

True Facts About a Poison Named Mercury December 24, 2008
I first read this book 25 years ago in 1983 when I was 31 years old and literally dragged myself out of bed each morning to get to work. I was a Captain in the Air Force at that time stationed at the US Air Force Academy and was working long hard hours teaching calculus to the cadets. All I wanted to do was sleep. I would come home from work, go to sleep at 6pm, get up at 4 or 5 am and feel like I had just pulled an "all nighter" in college. I went to see the Air Force physician's who gave me two choices regarding my situation. The first was that I was probably pregnant - which I was not... the second was that they thought I needed to see a "shrink" - which was not an option if I wanted to keep my security clearance...Now what???
I was lead to a wonderful nutritionist in Colorado Springs who then introduced me to Hal Huggins who taught me via this book that silver fillings were in fact mercury fillings. Without Dr. Huggins I would not be here today writing this review.
If you have unexplained symptoms and you have metal fillings in your mouth, you may be sensitive to mercury as I was. Read the book and see what you think because everyone is different.

In November, a jury awarded Diane Bailey, 41, a $159,000 malpractice award against Colorado Springs dentist Hal Huggins. Bailey says that she had no dental problems at all when she entered Huggins' office in 1991, but lost many teeth and now has nagging pain as a result of treatment at Huggins' dental practice. Dr. Gino Ortegon, a Huggins employee, removed nine dental amalgams and extracted three endodontically-treated teeth. Huggins claims that mercury in dental amalgams threatens health and that endodontically-treated teeth are focal points for infection. Both of these notions are unsupported by science and are forms of dental quackery. Bailey was roped into Huggins' nether world of dental hocuspocus by viewing video-tapes of television newscasts on amalgam - including CBS's 60 Minutes 1991 broadcast - and having read portions of Huggins' book It's All In Your Head: Diseases Caused by Mercury Amalgam Fillings. She said that the positive attitude and beauty of the dental facility convinced her that everything was legitimate. The state licensing board is investigating Huggins for routinely providing "substandard and unprofessional care" and for performing tests and treatments that are "a sham, illusory and without scientific basis." [ADA News, 12/4/95] Huggins' troubles were featured in Time magazine [12/11/95, p.7 1]. Disciplinary action could revoke Huggins' dental license.

This book should be mandatory reading for anyone interested in maintaining their health. As someone whose husband has been diagnosed with mercury/heavy metal poisoning due to the mercury amalgams in his teeth, I can testify to the devastating affects this poison can cause to the human body. My husband went from being a very strong, healthy 52 year old man who was never sick to a very ill one in a matter of months. Until we figured out what was wrong with him, my husband was preparing himself and me to die - he was that sick. We went from doctor to doctor trying to find out what was wrong with him - we even made a trip to the Cleveland Clinic, but all any of those doctors could do was tell him the didn't know what was wrong, what was causing it and then prescribe drugs to mask his symptoms. It was finally through our own exhaustive research that we made the connection between his symptoms and his teeth. Unfortunately, we didn't figure things out quite soon enough as he has lost part of the vision in one of his eyes, and we don't know if he will recover that sight. We were fortunate to locate a dentist that trained with Dr. Huggins and that follows Dr. Huggins' protocol. My husband is undergoing having all of his amalgams, crowns and root canals removed and replaced with compatible materials. Dr. Huggins' book is a life saver - it is well written, easy to understand and so very informative. After reading his book as well as Dr. Russel Blaylock's Health and Nutrition Secrets (another book I highly recommend), everything made sense.
Our new dentist referred my husband to a wellness center and to a wonderful functional medicine specialist who has developed a custom chelation protocol to remove these toxins from my husband's body. He's getting better, but we don't know yet what permanent effects he will have from this. I'm grateful that this information is gradually coming to light - I wish more people, especially the mainstream media, would pick up on it a bit more.
I get very angry whenever I think about what the dental community has done to my husband and to millions of other unsuspecting folks. The very agencies designed to protect us, the FDA and the ADA, have done a horrible job of that, and they refuse to admit that they are a problem. I find it ironic that they now warn pregnant women and children not to have amalgams placed, but apparently they are okay for everyone else? Mercury has no place in the human body regardless of whether you are 3 or 93! It is one of the most toxic substances known to man - mercury thermometers and mercurochrome have quietly disappeared off the store shelves; the EPA website offers very specific instructions on how to clean up after breaking a fluorescent lightbulb; the package insert for amalgam has a skull and crossbones and instruction on how to dispose of the excess (call haz mat) - yet the FDA and ADA deem it safe to place in teeth inches away from the brain and spinal cord. In fact the department of health and environment for the state where I live currently has a Mercury Collection Program ongoing and it cites all of the dangers of mercury, but not one word about amalgams (although dentists are free to participate!).
Get this book - it could save your life!

Very easy to read and understand. This book will and should scare the amalgams out of you. I've done a lot of research into this subject and have found almost all of the information in this book to be absolutely true and actuate. If your health is suffering and your doctor can't give you a valid reason why you need to read this book. I wish there was a way I could convey what I know to be the truth to you about this subject without sounding like a conspiracy theorist. If you have silver (Mercury) amalgams do the research and have them removed and you will know what thousands of others have found out about the most deadly poison in the world. It will change your life!
