 Great food for someone allergic to soy, wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs! July 14, 2008

These are a good chocolate fix for someone allergic to wheat, gluten, soy, dairy, and eggs! They taste good, and don't melt like the Luna Bars that I used to be able to eat. The ingredients are not processed, so you get a clean and healthy food. These bars are also great snacks because the nuts they contain make them more satiating than just fruit. The flavors taste just like the names suggest. I must remind you, however, that the "chocolate" taste in these comes from cocoa. So if you are expecting a "MILK-chocolate"-like taste, you won't get it. But the blend of cocoa in these are deliciously balanced. All 3 of the flavors in this pack are pretty decent. If you like pecan pie, I'd recommend the "Pecan Pie" Larabars--they taste just like the name too.

I bought these because of the good reviews and healthy ingredients, but they taste awfull! I love the other Larabar lemon,ginger,apple they are great. I could not eat them they had a funny chalky mixed with alchoholic tase.

Vegan. Organic. Fair Trade Cocoa. Kosher Pareve. Sampler of three flavors. Bars are semi-moist brownie-like. Small chopped nuts thoroughly mixed in. No frosting, just "cake." The mint variety has a very pleasant and prominent mint flavor. The chocolate and chocolate coffee have a very pleasing chocolate flavor, although the mocha flavor in the chocolate coffee bar is too understated. Variety pack is recommendable especially for those who like variety or would like to sample three different bars with one order. Socially responsible fair trade cocoa a plus. 190 Kcal and either 4 or 5g of protein per bar. Also really like Larabar Fruit & Nut Food Bar, Cinnamon Roll, 1.8-Ounce Bars (Pack of 16) in the regular Larabars. This review is out there for those for whom this makes a difference. If you like chocolate but don't want all the unnatural sugars and unhealthy ingredients, then larabars are for you! They taste delicious and you won't feel guilty eating them if you just have one (They are pretty addicting).
However be careful! I would disagree with the reviewer who said these make good snacks because they are too high calorie for snacks. I would eat one for lunch 4-5 times a week and I started gaining weight. I didn't change my diet otherwise or exercise habits so I believe this is because they are made up of nuts and dates, though while all natural and good for you, not so good for your waistline because they are high calorie foods.
I would recommend having them as replacements for those occasional intense chocolate cravings or for once a week splurges, but not an everyday treat, they are just too high cal for that.

Don't get this bar expecting it to taste like a Hershey bar or a junior mint, or you will be disappointed. But if you like the regular Larabar flavors and would like a bit of dark chocolate infused into your day, this is a great snack.
