Good Buy July 18, 2007 4 out of 4 found this comment useful.
I grind and clench my teeth a great deal. I have been wearing a night guard from the dentist for 20 some years but still had trouble since the night guard from the dentist did not help my clenching of the teeth. This is my second one. The first one I wore every night and wore it out within a year. The second one I purchased I wear every couple nights and it is holding up well. You don't need it every night. My jaw has not been sore like it was with the night guard from the dentist. I should not crack any more of my teeth while using this night guard.
Good, but not Great June 21, 2007 4 out of 4 found this comment useful.
I ordered this item and within 2 days, arrived at my door. Very fast. With that said, this is my second in 1 month. I chewed through the other one really fast.
I find if you leave it in your mouth and get "acclimated" to its presence, you will have a better chance of finding it still in your mouth in the morning and with less chewing.
I would give it a 4 but it's not durable enough. I'll see how long this one lasts. I would be very happy if it lasted 6 months.
Well worth a try June 21, 2007 4 out of 4 found this comment useful.
I'd seen this product in the back pages of women's magazines for quite some time and was always wary of ordering - I like to see a price upfront. When the company bought a full-page color ad in Woman's Day I paid more attention. Using Amazon Prime I felt I had less risk and finally ordered. This product may not come with a TMJD specialist to consult with, but I do wish I had been less suspicious. It's comfortable, seems to work well, and has definitely relieved a day-time headache and allows me to wake up without my teeth clenched together. It gives you chipmunk cheeks and a pouty lower lip but it's better than discomfort. If/when this item wears out I may try their "deluxe" model, and I may also investigate their discounted web prices.
So far so good May 19, 2007 4 out of 4 found this comment useful.
I had my dentist make me a night guard when he told me I grind my teeth but it felt uncomfortable so I stop wearing it. Now my teeth started bothering me because of all the years of grinding. I couldn't chew 'hard' food on my right side. I started to use a set of teeth whitening trays that I had to protect my teeth and they worked OK. My teeth started to get better but these trays (which are fairly thin anyway) started to get even thinner. I saw this night guard which is different that the other ones which you boil. I tried it and have been using it for about two months. I like it. Its more comfortable and is thick enough to protect my teeth. The mint flavor disappeared after a short while which is fine by me. Its worth giving a try. I've checked the portion that one bites down on and so far, there is no apparent wear on it so this one should last me for a while.
It does work March 8, 2007 4 out of 4 found this comment useful.
In some ways, this is more comfortable than the mouth guard I got from my dentist because it doesn't cover all my lower teeth. In other ways, it's less comfortable because it's very flexible and can move out of place. I do like the adjustable sides, though. Overall, I'm happy with it because it's a lot less expensive than a custom-fitted dental device. And it does keep me from biting down on my teeth at night, which means I no longer am waking with a sore jaw. The minty flavor was pretty apparent at first, but now I hardly know it's there. So it really doesn't matter what flavor you buy.
