Wonderful! December 26, 2008 This toothbrush works great for cleaning. My teeth feel so much cleaner than with a manual toothbrush.
Worked great for 2 years and then died August 1, 2008 I loved this toothbrush. My teeth never felt cleaner and I was happy knowing that I was brushing my teeth for an appropriate amount of time. However, after treating my beloved toothbrush with kid gloves for about two years, it up and died on me!
My dentist told me that I was brushing too hard and my gums were receding at an alarming rate. He told me to begin using a special soft-bristled brush that he gave me. It was a regular manual brush. So, my Sonicare sat on the bathroom shelf on its little charger for about 3 months. When I tried to use it after a 3-month break, it worked for about two seconds, and then gave a long "beeeeep!" I thought that maybe I had overcharged it, so I let it sit off the charger for a day. No change. Three weeks of trying everything I could think of (replacing the head, cleaning it, various charger/non-charger positions) it still doesn't work.
I got two great years out of this toothbrush. However, I don't think it's the right match for me because my gums have begun receding so badly (my roots are exposed in all 4 quadrants and I am experiencing severe sensitivity to cold and sweets). Besides, who wants to spend over $100 on brushes, special paste, and heads if it only lasts 2 years? No, thanks!
good but not great June 8, 2008 Recommended by my dentist, whom I trust. Product worked great; I loved the timer feature as I tended, like most people, to brush too quickly. My check-ups were improved, and my gums healthier as a result of using this product. However, after 2 years, the battery died. It is not replaceable and as far as I can tell, the unit must be disposed of--entirely. What an incredible waste. 5 stars otherwise. I will not replace it because it looks like the new version has the same 20th century engineering mindset. I thought Philips was a progressive product designer. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Nice product, but the battery life and replacement? Fooey!!! April 29, 2008 Capitalism at its finest moment: Battery dies after the two year warranty, can't replace it, carefully dispose of it. Spend another 120 for a new one.
Yeesh. At least sell replacement, proprietary batteries for the consumer to fix it!!
Sonic Toothbrush February 8, 2008 Great little product. Have had it for over 2 years now and it's still going strong. Came highly recommended by my dentist and afterwards I noticed several family members and friends have them.
