5 out of 5 stars Easy to Use   November 10, 2008
Easy to use and works great. I am an adult with braces and the waterpik is excellent at removing foreign substances from my mouth.

5 out of 5 stars Want to keep your teeth?   November 10, 2008

Aside from a very good toothbrush (one of the various makes of "sonic" style electric brush), the best thing you can do to keep your teeth is clean between them. Flossing does a good job, but strong enough waterpick does an excellent job. Use all three and your dentist will be amazed.

The waterpick device is a vibration style pump that pushes spurts of water through an small nozzle you hold. The water is used to clean between the teeth, and between the teeth and gum line. This removes debris, plaque, and bacteria, and helps keep your teeth and gums healthy. Depending on the pressure, it can do a much more thorough job than flossing.

This particular device has enough pressure so as to be able to cause discomfort. I highly suggest starting at a low pressure and turning it up, until you know where "your" pressure is. It is not a device for everyone, children (etc) should not use it without supervision. A good dentist will caution you that though it can remove debris, if misused, it can also cause debris to become wedged, and possibly damage the gums and other soft tissues.

I consider it to be essential, along with my electric tooth brush and floss.

5 out of 5 stars great product   November 6, 2008

This is my 4th water pik. Has helped stopped and even reversed my gingival problems. Only problem is when you grip the handle you sometimes disconnect the rinse head and get a shower.

5 out of 5 stars Works Great   November 4, 2008
I have been using this product lately and it works great. The Water Jet has various speed settings which increase pressure gradually and helps in cleaning the gum tissue. I am very happy with this overall.

1 out of 5 stars yet another leakage in the handle after only a few months of use   November 4, 2008

We are very disappointed with this device. We bought it only a few months ago and have been using it regularly, two adults, once a day, but recently the top bit of the handle started to leak big time and the waterpik has since become unusable. This is very disappointing. We are going to have to trash it and find an alternative product. Personally I find it simply scandalous to market such rubbish products. Yet another consequence of nonsensical outsourcing and frenetic globalization. I'd much rather spend twice the price for a reliable product, rather than one that lasts four months and will end up polluting the planet a bit more.
