4 out of 5 stars Great for mineral makeup!   April 27, 2008
I have SUPER sensitive skin and live in dry and windy Colorado. This product is terrific! It goes on smooth and my skin soaks it up instantly. I wear mineral makeup and some moisturizers you have to wait awhile for your skin to soak it in. I've never had that problem with this one, sometimes I even have to put on another layer it's gone so fast. My skin looks and feels 100% better almost immediately after use. I haven't had any issues reactions which is rare for my fair/sensitive skin but if you do have oily skin you should probably pass (it's so rich that it can occasionally cause minor breakouts). I don't understand all the comments about the smell? It doesn't bother me a bit because it's mild and doesn't linger around. I have found very few fragrance-free products so if that's your deal keep looking but otherwise it smells like any typical moisturizer containing soothing botanicals. There may be better moisturizers out there for the $$ but I have yet to find it so until then I will save my 5 stars.

1 out of 5 stars Allergic reaction   April 27, 2008

I bought this as a set, and at first I thought wow this feels really good.............and then............the problems started, itching burning, swelling. I only used it once, and my face was so uncomfortable, tiny little blister type spots and itchy rash.....what on earth is in this product. I never have allergies to moisturiser, and have tried many products but usually favour Clinique dramatically different. You may not have a reaction to it, personally I would not risk it.

2 out of 5 stars Not so great   April 20, 2008
I bought this after reading many good reviews. I have to say the smell is sickening. I love the smell of lavender but once you put it on your face, it leaves a horrible smell! It also does not rub in very well and my face has never been drier! It is not even winter and my skin is so dry and flaky. I would not recommend this and I wish I could return it!!!!

2 out of 5 stars not for acne prone skin   April 7, 2008

I was very optimistic about using this product due to all of the good reviews. Unfortunately, it's one more to add to the "no good" pile. It has a lightweight fluffy texture, which I liked - it spread on evenly and you don't need much. Many people complained about the smell, but it didn't bother me at all - it was a faint lavender smell. Now the important stuff: well, it did make my skin incredibly soft. My foundation spread on much more evenly than it used to. BUT....I started getting cystic acne after using this....and I mean TONS of them. Before using this, I would get an occasional breakout, and very very rarely the cystic types. I have combination skin and am in my 20's. After using this for about a week, my face was breaking out horribly! There were 4-5 large acne cysts....I continued using this product for about a month (so that the "uglies" could be brought to the surface which is common with new products)...but it still continued. It's just too much of a negative to continue using this product.

4 out of 5 stars Great product   March 16, 2008
I have been blessed with dry, acne prone, very red skin. I used to have beautiful peaches and cream skin but as I've gotten older my cheeks have a "sandpaper" texture and my forehead has a "pizza" texture (combination skin) In the past my choices have been either have acne or dry skin. Not anymore! I purchased this cream after hearing all the great stuff about it. I purchased the medium size for $38.00 from Sephora.

First off, yes the smell is not what you might expect from a company who makes products called "gingerbread man" and "Strawberry" it takes some getting used to but it won't deter me from using it, and I am pretty sensitive to smells. Second I am surprised at the amount in the jar and you need to use so little I think this will last a while. The only downside is that it leaves your skin a little "Rosy" I don't need any help in that department so this may be a good excuse for me to try some of the clinique products for red skin. I don't think it's a reaction I just think it's the nature of the product, it does say it will give you a healthy glow right on the jar. I have had no bad reactions to it at all. But when I need a refill I will probably pick up the sensitive skin formula. This is my introduction to the Philosophy line and I will most likely buy more products from this company

Bottom line: this is a good product, if you saw the amount of creams in my bathroom you would understand how amazing it is that this is the one I reach for each day. If you're unsure of the smell or if you'll react to it there is a small jar/tube available for sale for about $15.00. You should also be able to a free sample from Sephora.
