Chemical smell and sticky October 22, 2008 I have tried this product on my arms and legs to help my Keritosis Pilaris, the product has worked some what but the chemical smell put me off. Also when I first put the cream on it dries sticky and made my skin tingle. It didn't get rid of the KP (I'm still using it as I can't afford anything else) but a combination of using this cream and exfoliating has made it slightly better....not the miracle I was hoping for though :0(
Solved my itchy skin problem April 1, 2008 Had itchy skin for years and moisturizers didn't seem very effective. AmLactin took several days to build up its effect, but then eliminated the itching. Been using it five years now. Does have a slight ammonia smell.
Effective Overnight Exfoliant; Less Than Ideal for Daytime Use December 11, 2007 Very effective exfoliant, but as others have said the ammonium scent and the slightly tacky residue it leaves on the skin make it somewhat less than ideal for use during day. I find it best to apply it at night, then shower it off in the morning and use Cetaphil as my daytime moisturizer.
GREAT! For my KP December 6, 2007 At 25 now, I have had KP my whole life as it was passed down through my family. I was diagnosed by the dermatologist when I was 16 going in for Acne treatment. He prescribed various things that never worked, but after research I discovered this lotion. Thus far, I really like it. I agree with the strong chemical smell being kind of disconcerting, but I throw my fave scent over it, and I have never had anyone else tell me I smelled like chemicals. My only complaint with the product is that it smooths my skin so drastically, if I miss a few days use I really notice the bumps coming back. Also don't use it after shaving unless you like the stinging feeling... and I do use it on my face alternately with my m.d. forte glycolic acid face lotion.
Excellent for dry skin but not for KP August 22, 2007 I found this lotion to be great for dry skin, but I've used it for a month and seen no visible results to help the red bumps of Keratosis Pilaris. It did smooth the rough part of my skin. The lotion is also thin and a little sticky, but effective as far as moisture goes. If it was helpful for those with KP I'd give 5 stars.
