4 out of 5 stars Exactly as described   October 5, 2008

This product and seller were exactly as described. The cushioning on the face mask is more comfortable than some others on the market. I just wish they'd change the way the straps connect to the mask. So far mine haven't broken on this mask, but I imagine it's just a matter of time. The airflow noise is a bit quieter on this unit, too, than on some other masks I have used. All in all, it is nice and a great deal; and I would buy it and buy from this seller again.

4 out of 5 stars Most comfortable mask but only lasts about 3 months   August 10, 2008

I have found this to be the most comfortable mask out there. The main competitor to this mask are the various resmed mirage masks: Micro, Activa, and the plain regular. I found the gel mask is much softer on the face than the silicone cushions used in the mirage series.

My only complaint is that the mask does not have a very long life. After about 3 months, the gel starts to get mushy and you get more air leaks -- causing you to wake up frequently and have to readjust the mask.

In terms of price -- this is definitely a pretty good value relative to a lot of other types of masks. If you can afford it, I would highly recommend having an emergency backup mask. (this goes for any brand) The plastic on all masks tend to be brittle and snap easily. And of course -- when it breaks -- it tends to be as you are putting your mask on to go to sleep. This is not the type of thing that you can run out and buy in the middle of the night.

If you can't afford to have a new mask waiting in reserve, keep one of your retired masks handy so that you can at least get through the night.

3 out of 5 stars Kind of cheaply made, but basically worth what I paid for it.   March 19, 2008

Seems to be sort of cheaply made but seems to be worth the price paid.

1 out of 5 stars Great mask, but ...   October 27, 2007

The mask is comfortable, quiet and has provided me with excellent sleep since I started using it 5 months ago. So why the poor rating? Simple: The plastic receptacles that receive the [black] tabs, which in turn, receive the bottom portion of the lycra headgear - BREAK, rendering the mask unusable. I've only been using CPAP for 5 months, and I just went through my second mask. I'm livid! Once you begin CPAP therapy, there's no going back; even one (1) night w/out it is sheer misery! So, when I went to don my mask last night (Friday) and that little plastic tab dropped to the floor, I nearly went berserk! I got the roll of duct tape out (go ahead and laugh, I did!) - Well, it worked for a while, but I ended up waking up at 4am because of bleeding (air, that is). Obviously duct tape is not the panacea it is purported to be! A product is only as good as it's weakest link. When it doesn't fall apart, this is an EXCELLENT mask; but until Respironics fixes this SERIOUS FLAW, I rate it at a "1".

Cheaper than buying from Proxair but the quality is the same.
