Most comfortable mask out there but only lasts about 3 months August 10, 2008 4 out of 4 found this comment useful.
I have found this to be the most comfortable mask out there. The main competitor to this mask are the various resmed mirage masks: Micro, Activa, and the plain regular. I found the gel mask is much softer on the face than the silicone cushions used in the mirage series.
My only complaint is that the mask does not have a very long life. After about 3 months, the gel starts to get mushy and you get more air leaks -- causing you to wake up frequently and have to readjust the mask.
In terms of price -- this is definitely a pretty good value relative to a lot of other types of masks. If you can afford it, I would highly recommend having an emergency backup mask. (this goes for any brand) The plastic on all masks tend to be brittle and snap easily. And of course -- when it breaks -- it tends to be as you are putting your mask on to go to sleep. This is not the type of thing that you can run out and buy in the middle of the night.
If you can't afford to have a new mask waiting in reserve, keep one of your retired masks handy so that you can at least get through the night.
Very Comfortable! August 4, 2008 There is no question that this is the most comfortable mask I have ever tried (out of six). I can barely feel it on my face. The dual-layer mask cushion (silicone) forms a good pocket in front of your nose so it doesn't feel cramped. The actual silicone flap that rests against your face is light and if you breathe heavily, you can see it move back and forth from your face, giving you lots of comfort. The plastic portions are sturdy and the forehead portion is readily adjustable to fit your face. I can actually adjust it with my eyes closed. The exhalation port is on the clear tube outside your face and you can direct it anywhere, plus it is virtually silent. No humming or whooshing noises to bother your partner. What they are calling the "ComfortGel" is really a lightweight, but firm mask that seals perfectly and is lightweight. The straps are also easy to simply pull on and off. It is also very easy to clean with just liquid soap and water. Its not sexy, but it will let you get a good nights sleep without making you feeling like you're being suffocated.
The BEST Gel Mask there is-PERIOD! May 21, 2008 3 out of 3 found this comment useful.
I've been a BiPap owner for years and have tried everything, nasal pillows included, full face masks, regular nasal masks, NOTHING fit as well as this one does, nor was as comfortable as this. You can't buy one that's better than this one.
My only complaint? The little pieces of plastic that clasp the black ball for the strap are SO delicate they break easily. So be sure to unstrap the mask every time and not simply pull off/pull on your head without unclasping it. They'll break easily.
Even with that, they're still the BEST there is!

After using a few different CPAP masks,(Full and nasel) I have found that this is by far the most comfortable and easiest to use. Once you adjust it to the correct fit it has an easy on/off hook-up which requires very few adjustments. i have used this for 2 months and I will continue to use only this mask.
