1 out of 5 stars DHA doesn't have to come from fish.   December 9, 2008

My son and I have been using Udo's DHA 3-6-9 with incredible results. He is much calmer and more focused and has overall better behavior since using it. His eczema, which is genetic, has also disappeared. I am glad I found an alternative to the fish oil because DHA is very important, especially for my toddler... but I wanted to spare the fish their livers! As well as avoid the risk of ocean-borne contaminants sometimes found in fish oils. I'd also like to note that sometimes I will buy Spectrum Toddler DHA liquid formula (it is about half the cost of Udo's).

This liquid DHA mixes well with yogurt. Not sure I'd be able to get my three year old to take it straight, though.

5 out of 5 stars The best for kids   May 15, 2008

My son has CP and is therefore physically delayed. I started giving him this fish oil and he is the best talker and most attentive 2 year-old that his speech therapist has. She is always amazed at how long his attention span is and how easily he picks up on and repeats things. I believe the fish oil helped in all of this. I put it in his drink every night and he doesn't even taste it.

My five year old daughter has struggled with speech therapy for three years. She was given a tentative diagnosis of apraxia, and her therapist recommended DHA and EPA. She started taking 1t of Children's DHA on November 30,2007. Six weeks later, she began to show signifigant improvement with her speech. She has a lot of work ahead of her, but at least she is finally improving!

Children's DHA has been really great for my son (7 years old). I started giving it to him because I read about the benefits of DHA for children with ADD/ADHD. My son has not been diagnosed with either, but has several of the symptoms, so I thought we'd give it a try. After taking it regularly for several weeks, I could see a difference. He was less impulsive and was getting more work done at school. I was also surprised to discover that his allergies seemed to disappear! In the past he had been on allergy medication (nasal allergies), but it only did a so-so job, so I stopped giving it to him, since its performance didn't make it worth the side effects. The DHA works much, much better than the allergy medicine, with no bad side effects (a health bonus, in fact). For a while I was giving it to him just by itself, on a spoon, and he didn't complain, because he knew it made him feel better. He said the taste was fine, but not his favorite thing. I tried it, to see, and the taste is fine, but the texture is what makes it mildly unpleasant, so I mix it into a smoothie for him now. The strawberry taste makes it undectable. In fact, I put in extra, and the whole family has the smoothies, and loves them.
