5 out of 5 stars Better than a multi vitamin   December 12, 2008
Supplies most of your daily requirements + protein of a meal and it tastes great. I use to take a variety of vitamins and minerals, but it was always a struggle to swallow those tablets--now it don't have to. Hubby and I start EVERY day with a drink--no excuses not to have a liquid breakfast :)

I've now hooked my parents on this product as well. Ensure (protein drink/meal replacement) for adults/seniors has too many calories and doesn't taste good--this is a great alternative.

Also great as a end-of-the-day meal if you're attempting to loose weight.

Other great flavors: Chocolate, strawberry, pina colada, tangerine dream. The others not mentioned are good too, but these are the family favorites.

5 out of 5 stars healthy fast food option!   November 23, 2008
My family enjoys the spirutein shakes. It makes for a fast healthy breakfast or quick snack after school for the adults and children.
Only thing: best to mix in a blender. Even though I believe the company says "blends instantly", this is only done properly in a blender.

I use a blender to make shakes and this powder is not gritty at all it tastes pretty good and has no artificial sugar in it

5 out of 5 stars Totally addicted   August 13, 2008
My wife and I have been buying and drinking this product for years. We've tried all the flavors but we both like the Vanilla best by far. The secret for making this (or any other flavor) into a delicious healthy shake is this:

Start with a decent blender that can crush ice cubes, or use the crushed ice option in your ice maker if it does that. Put 3 oz of crushed ice or ice cubes -- 5 cubes from MY refrigerator ice maker, yours may vary -- into the blender. If cubes, crush them first in the blender at high speed. Add 8 oz skim milk to the crushed ice and start blender. IMMEDIATELY add 1 measure of powder by sprinkling it in over several seconds. Blend only a few seconds more after you finish adding the powder, then pour and enjoy. [NB: Dumping the powder in all at once will often cause undissolved clumps to stick to the blender. Overblending will melt the ice and thicken the shake too much.]

The drink produced by this method will be frosty and delicious, like the best milkshake you've ever had.

5 out of 5 stars Very good - here is my favorite recipie   August 6, 2008
The powder is an aquired taste, because it isn't as sweet as you might think. But, I love it. I always feel really good after I have had a shake. It is low calorie, and makes a good afternoon snack or breakfast. The Chocolate flavor is my favorite. My Shake recipie is: 1 scoop of Chocolate Spiroteen, 2 cups of skim milk or soy milk, one peeled banana, 6 ice cubes, one teaspoon of instant coffee (optional) 1/4 cup of plain yogurt (optional). Mix in a blender until the ice is finely chopped. The instant coffee makes it taste like a mocha. The banana sweetens the drink and makes it as thick as a milk shake from a burger place. The ice makes it nice and cold.
