Where's the charger? January 10, 2009 It's a great product. The apps and web browser are extremely useful and the music functions are as good as the previous ipods. The only problem is apple continues to strip away the packaged accessories as it increases price. It's ridiculous that such a highly priced item requires you to buy a wall charger.
Excellent user interface, quick and responsive January 10, 2009 The user interface is incredible and extremely responsive. The built-in speaker is very handy. The Apple app store makes it extremely easy and enticing to download new applications to add all sorts of capabilities. Many of the applications take advantage of the location of the device to display interesting information. A very fun and useful device.
Ipod touch 2nd generation January 10, 2009 The Ipod is great but it quit working about 3 days after I gave it to my husband. It was sold as New, but I'm wondering if it was reconditioned? Apple was great about the problem, sent it in and had a new one within a week. It is an amazing little gadget--I have since bought one fo myself, but not on Amazon.
Ipod Touch 32 GB 2nd G January 9, 2009 A great product at a fair price. All the benefits of a regular iPod combined with a lot of amazing enternaining features. You can execute any function of your iPod through its practical touchscreen. You can also access YouTube over Wi-Fi by tapping the YouTube button, and you can use the same simple method to access the iTunes Store, Google Maps, Safari Web Browser, Email, and any other application you want to use.
A game changer January 9, 2009 It's so much more than my last iPod, a 30GB fifth generation version.
The Apps and Wifi are what make this a winner. If I needed a phone I would strongly consider the iPhone, but I love having a little device that can access the net when out and about, assuming you have wifi available.
I haven't really put the battery life to the test, but I did get the Richard Solo batter pack for plane rides and other times I may need extra juice.
I've had to reset the unit once and re-synch it when some apps would quit immediately upon being launched. That solved the problem.
I've never been a gamer, but I've downloaded a few (crazy penguin catapult and a maze game) and find they will come in handy when I need to kill a few minutes when stuck in a waiting room, for example.
I have played around with Fring and actually made phone calls from my iPod Touch. It worked for a while but something must be wrong with Fring as new calls are not going through. Another service allows you to assign a number to the Touch. Search YouTube for how-to's. You need a microphone. Target (in-store only) sells a Microphone adapter for the touch that is only $10. It's made by Phillip's. This is a good microphone to make audio recordings on the unit.
The ability to read and respond to email, surf the web, get RSS feeds, weather and so on, really open a new world.
I didn't bother getting an Invisible Shield cover for this unit. I used that product on the 5G iPod and my cameras, but after watching YouTube videos of people torturing their iPod Touches trying to scratch them I decided to go naked. The back is scratched up, but who cares?
The unit is so small and slick that I worried about it slipping off my leg or couch when seated. To give it more grip I added two vertical strips of cloth tape, hoping to give the unit some grab and make it less slick.
So far I have to say this is money well spent.
