Customer Comments:

1 out of 5 stars "Chinese Whey" not "American Whey"!   November 12, 2008
Product is tasty and delivery was prompt. However, my experience contacting American Sports Nutrition to inquire about whether they had eliminated the possibility of melamine contamination was extremely disheartening. I had to send multiple inquiries to get any response. A "Nicole" finally responded by email that "there is no meamine [sic] in the product. We have gotten a letter from the managing director about it". I asked whether this was a mgr. dir. of their own firm, or a Chinese supplier, and/or a copy of said letter but got no further response. My guess is they are buying cheap whey from China, are trying not to admit it(given product name "American Whey" and company name "American Sports Nutrition"), and are taking their supplier's word for it about melamine. It's also a bit fishy that the lab analysis on their website dates from 2001. I plan to switch to another brand from a more aboveboard company where I can assure myself there's no Chinese whey product, at least until the scope of melamine contamination in the supply chain is understood and under control. This is also a cautionary tale about our sad lack of ingredient country-of-origin labeling in products. Even when the ingredient constitutes 99% of the product.
